Carnival of Healing #158 - October 4, 2008
Welcome to the October 4, 2008 edition of carnival of healing! It is my very first time hosting this carnival and am thankful to Phylameana for giving me the opportunity to do this.
The last carnival was held at Natural Pain Relief. The next carnival will be held at Gina Loree’ Marks Grace in Gravity.
It is interesting to see how the entries that were sent in seem to be of a certain theme, and about my areas of interest too! I do believe the law of attraction is at work here! I hope you enjoy this edition (with some sprinkling of photographs I took - newbie at work), as much as I did! So here goes!
Health and diet
I have read about the importance of getting vitamin D and calcium. It is sad that this information that can save lives seems to be unknown to many, especially when it is so cheap. So hopefully the article by Isabelle Boulay, Vitamin D and Calcium Reduce PMS posted at Medopdedia, saying, “Just a reminder to think about upping your vitamin D during the upcoming winter and fall months.” can help to spread the word about vitamin D.
I don’t think that it is just Americans getting big, people in other countries are getting big too. Too much McD’s? Starbucks? We can blame it on anyone and everyone, but ultimately, parents have a responsibility to guide their child.Lazy Man and Health presents Tips on Dealing With Child Obesity posted at Lazy Man and Health, saying, “Promote healthy eating and living with your child.”
I love berries, and it is good to see another member of the berry family gaining popularity! David presents Açaí, a Wonderful Healthy Food posted at Worldwide Success.
The people who supposedly take care of our health(assuming you still see a regular doctor), are probably the ones in the worst health. If you are young and intending to be a doctor, check out the post by Brain Blogger, Are Doctors Super Human? posted at Brain Blogger, saying, “The consequences of tired doctors on-call are obvious and so to remedy this problem the US Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education enforced new limits of no more than 30 consecutive hours for residents whose long shifts were more likely to cause mistakes or patient risks.”
Water is something that has fascinated me since young. fitnchic mentioned that we have to distinguish between hunger and thirst. I agree. Many times, we are just thirsty, but go straight to get something to eat, and our body gets more water deprived than ever. fitnchic presents Water ? The Universal ?Fat? Solvent :: FitNChic.com - Get in Shape Fashionably :: posted at FitNChic.com - Get in Shape, Fashionably!.
I’ve always wondered how the Vegans did it, let along Raw Vegans. I do wish I could eat a cleaner diet :p If you are looking to become a raw vegan,Peter presents Raw Vegan Food posted at we overstep provides some good information.
I believe a growing number of people realise the relationship between stress and weight gain/loss. Check ou Joshua Seth Lose Weight with Stress Management Hypnosis | Weight Loss Hypnosis and Personal Development Blog posted at Joshua Seth Blog. He offers an alternative way to losing weight besides exercise and diet.
Exercise
We often take our body for granted when we are young, and do not feel the effects till we grow older. Simple actions like lifting a load if done in the correct way, can save us a great deal of pain some years down the road. Grace Young presents No Power Lifting! posted at Grace R Young OT.
Neck pains are probably one of the most common ailments people complain of! Check out some inexpensive ways to get relief. Dean Moyer presents Declaring War on Neck Pain posted at The Back Pain Blog, saying, “In this post we review the various ways to apply heat therapy for temporary relief of back and neck pain.”
Different people need different kinds of help. Health blogger here offers another way of treating neck pains. Health Blogger presents Chronic Shoulder and Neck Pain posted at Health and Fitness Blog.
There have been times when I exercised, and it did give me a headache, and I never really bothered about it, but the post by Kevin/Keira is enlightening. Kevin/Keira presents Is Your Exercise Routine Giving You A Headache? posted at Weight Ladder.
If any of you have heard of Airborne and is interested in trying in out, check out Andrew Leahey Does Airborne Work? A Brief Analysis of Their Claim posted at Leahey.org first. I would be wary of any product that claims to cure something as most of the time it is just hype. Andrew provides some interesting analysis on it.
I love doing yoga, and I have to agree with Victoria, that after practicing it for some time, it changes not just the body, but the mind. Check out her post about Green Yoga. Victoria E presents Seeing the Sustainable Side of Getting Limber and Centered posted at Victoria Everman :: Sustainable, Creative, Enlightened Living :: San Francisco.
Law of attraction and energy work

A favourite topic of a growing number of people, the law of attraction, still has many non-believers. Gina Loree’ Marks provides interesting perspectives in her Law of Attraction for Skeptics posted at Grace in Gravity, saying, “A look at law of attraction from more of a physiological perspective”
Another article on the law of attraction! Applying the Law of Attraction elaborates in detail about Placing Your Order with the Universe posted at Applying the Law of Attraction Membership Library.
Here’s another of my pet topic, breathing! Chris Edgar presents The Essential Breath posted at Purpose Power Coaching, saying, “When we breathe shallowly, as many of us do, and our bodies are hungry for oxygen, it’s no wonder we suffer from a nagging sense of incompleteness, a constant feeling that we need something more to make us whole. But when we completely allow our natural breathing process to operate, a feeling of peace and wholeness comes over us, and the sense that something is missing disappears.”
Michael Miles presents The wisdom of Elizabeth Kubler-Ross posted at Effortless Abundance. I like this quote in Michael’s article “People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” It is so true.
True love is indeed unconditional, but the love that goes around these days, are sadly full of conditions. I hope that everyone will open their hearts and mind one day soon. Stephen presents True Love is Unconditional posted at Balanced Existence.
There are many modalities of energy work out there. Personally, I am into Quantum Touch, but underlying all of them, I believe the basis is love. Check out Reiki by Peter we overstep » Blog Archive » Reiki posted at we overstep.
Ah, I remember a friend once said to me. “I’m almost 40 and still don’t know what I want in life. ” Sounds familiar? then you have to check out Shaun Connell Life Purpose 101 posted at Personal Development.
Last but definitely not least..
Death is a topic that many speak about usually in hush hush voices, as it is considered taboo to talk about it. Now, more and more people are starting to realise that death is not (that) scary, and in fact, if we take time to consider the experience of it, can be liberating. Erin Pavlina presents What Happens When You Die? posted at Erin Pavlina’s Blog, saying, “I’ve gotten a lot of emails asking me variations on this question so I thought I’d do an entire blog entry on this subject to help everyone understand what I believe happens.”
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of healing using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
